«Capa-Preta»
Six months after clinching the Campeonato Capixaba Sub-20 title, Rio Branco's youth side travelled to São Paulo for the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior in 2026 and came home without a win, held 0-0 by Flamengo-SP and beaten 2-0 by Vitória-BA in the group stage.
That title sits inside a far longer record. The senior club has won the Campeonato Capixaba 39 times, a tally no other side in Espírito Santo approaches, stretching from 1918 through to back-to-back titles in 2024 and 2025.
The senior team still wears the black shirt that gave the club its nickname, Capa-Preta. Founded by a group of teenagers shut out of Vitória's existing clubs, it first played in green and yellow under the name Juventude e Vigor before being renamed for Baron Rio Branco in 1914 and settling on its current title in 1941. Its home now, Estádio Kleber Andrade in Cariacica, is one the club itself built and named after its president, before selling the stadium to the state government in 2008 and staying on as tenant.
For the Sub-20 group, the next assignment is the Copa do Brasil Sub-20, where the draw has paired them with Vasco da Gama in the first phase.
