SfB-Oure

The professional side of Svendborg football went under in 2017, when FC Svendborg was declared bankrupt. What replaced it was assembled the following winter: on 25 January 2018 Svendborg fB joined with Oure FA to form SfB-Oure FA. The day after, at an extraordinary general meeting, SfB members voted for the arrangement with the Oure schools. The new club took over Oure FA's licence and started in the Denmark Series, the fourth tier.

None of this was a first attempt. Talks about a joint professional structure among South Funen clubs go back to 2004, after SfB dropped out of the Danish divisions. A second try in May 2008 produced FC Svendborg, built on SfB, which left the finances where it found them.

The promotion came on 20 June 2020: a 3-2 win over Otterup B&IK carried the club into the 2nd Division, the third tier. In cup football the record is thinner — a first-round appearance in 2021/22.

Home is Høje Bøge Stadion, which holds 7,000. It has held more. The ground's attendance record, 8,000, dates from 1975 and a visit by OB — the Odense club from the other end of Funen, the island's largest and the measure against which anything from Svendborg gets judged. That crowd belongs to the predecessor, not to the current side, but it is the same terracing, and it explains what a fixture against Odense still means here.
