Estádio Louis Ensch holds 2,290. Social Futebol Clube's youth side, the U20s, train and play there in Coronel Fabriciano, in the industrial belt of Minas Gerais known as Vale do Aço, the Steel Valley. The nickname that follows the club through every age group, Saci de Aço, borrows from the one-legged trickster of Brazilian folklore and welds it to the region's steel mills.

The senior club was founded on 1 October 1944, and the choice of name carried its own small statement: Social, over the alternative Comercial, to signal a side open to every social class in the town. Black and white were adopted at registration that year, replacing an earlier blue and yellow — home kit solid black, away kit white.

Social's professional history has run in bursts rather than a straight line. The first paid football came in 1981. The club won the Campeonato Mineiro da Segunda Divisão in 1995 and took the Módulo II title twice, in 1996 and 2007, the state's second tier under that format. In 1997 it reached the second phase of Série C, the national third division, before Juventus of São Paulo ended the run. Activity stopped again in 2019; the club returned to Minas Gerais's second division in 2024.
