Brendan Gan arrived at Sutherland as a 12-year-old and left as the best young player in the state — the Gold Medal in the NSW Premier League came his way in 2008. In 2024 he came back to Seymour Shaw, this time on the books as a player and an academy coach.
The club those juniors feed into started in 1930 as Sutherland United SFC, in the shire south of Sydney, and only later became the Sharks.
Home is Seymour Shaw Park in Miranda, on The Boulevarde, open since 1950 and rebuilt in 2007. The club plays in navy and white.
