In 1992, the club that had played as KF Rudari Stari Trg since 1940 was reorganised amid ethnic division in Mitrovica and the boycott of official leagues by Albanian clubs.
Stadiumi Riza Lushta once held 12,000 people; reconstruction and the collapse of part of the roof cut that down to 5,000, where it stands. The club, nicknamed the Miners, wear green and white.
A Kosovo Cup followed in 2011/12, a Superkupa in 2016/17, and the First League title has been won twice, in 2009/10 and again in 2023/24. The number 15 shirt has not been worn since 2022, retired for midfielder Erion Kajtazi after his death.
