Triesenberg II

What Triesenberg has managed instead is a quarter-final in the Liechtenstein Cup, five times — 1987/88, then again in 1996/97, 2003/04, 2006/07 and 2020/21. The reserves have been eligible for the cup since 1987/88, but they cannot win it: a final against their own first team is not permitted, and with it goes any route into Europe.

Liechtenstein has no national league, so both teams from Triesenberg play their weekend football in Switzerland. The second side has been in the fifth league of the Eastern Switzerland association almost without interruption since 1999/00 — the ninth tier. The one break came in 2021/22, a season in the fourth league that ended in tenth place and immediate relegation. Third in the fifth league is the best they have finished, in 2003/04, 2011/12 and 2020/21.

Both teams share the Sportanlage Leitawis, which holds 800 — split evenly between seats and standing. Yellow shirts, blue shorts at home; blue throughout on the road. The parent club dates from 28 May 1972.

For now the task is the familiar one: a top-three finish in the ninth tier, and a cup draw that lasts a few rounds into the winter.
