Harstad Vikings sit across the fixture list as the one name Tromsø Storm players still measure themselves against. The 2006–07 title was decided that way, with Storm beating the Vikings in front of a full Tromsøhallen to seal the regular-season crown.
The club started out as Tromsø Basketball Klubb, and under that name won the Norwegian Championship in 1996–97, reaching the final again the following year and losing it. The rebrand to Tromsø Storm in 2000 arrived alongside the relaunch of the top division as BLNO.
Long-time captain Johannes Rydningen Lange has been the constant through that stretch. The club's academy, Tromsø Storm Ungdom, has fed players like Aron Nielsen Finstad through to the senior side.
Storm still draw some of the fuller houses in Norwegian basketball.
