Ekstraliga Kobiet has given the club a proper city derby again since 2024/25, when ŁKS Łódź won promotion and turned what had been a fixture against GKS Katowice, Górnik Łęczna and Śląsk Wrocław into a genuine local rivalry, one the local press files simply under Derby Łodzi rather than any settled nickname.

UKS SMS Łódź plays out of the Szkoła Mistrzostwa Sportowego on ul. Milionowa, and it was there that a women's football section was set up in 2012, a late addition next to a sports school with a longer history of its own. The team has carried sponsor names along the way — TME SMS Łódź, then Grot SMS Łódź from 2024/25 — without the underlying club changing.

The Ekstraliga title arrived once, in 2022, bracketed by a runner-up finish the year before and third place in 2023. The Polish Cup went the other way round: lost the 2021 final, won it in 2023. Before reaching the top flight, the side had already topped the second division in 2016 after finishing runner-up there in 2015.

Dominika Kopińska, twice the Ekstraliga's top scorer, came through the same set-up as Wiktoria Zieniewicz, Adriana Achcińska and Oliwia Domin, part of a production line that has fed several Poland internationals into the senior team.

Home games are played at the Stadion Szkoły Mistrzostwa Sportowego im. Kazimierza Górskiego, all-seated for 2,000, in the club's blue and white. Since that single championship in 2022, the league has not come back to Łódź.
