VT Mondorf

Mondorf is a district of Niederkassel, tucked between Bonn and Cologne, and volleyball there has never been the club's whole identity: TuS Mondorf is a multi-sport society, and the volleyball department only branched off in 1978, decades after the founders had gathered as a gymnastics club. It is that department, not the parent society, that has carried the town's name into the upper half of German volleyball.

TuS Mondorf now competes in the 2. Bundesliga North, and the club took the title twice running: in 2022, settled on the final matchday with a 3:2 win over Moerser SC, and again in 2023, finishing top of the table with 62 points to secure promotion. Both campaigns owed a great deal to Nico Wegner, named MVP of the league in 2020/21, who left for SWD Powervolleys Düren in 2023 having already won both championships with Mondorf.

The team no longer plays at the Hardtberghalle in Bonn, a hall fans had nicknamed the "Hardtberg-Hölle" for how loud it got on matchdays; home games are now at the PUNCTUM Arena in Troisdorf, which holds 600. In cup football, Mondorf has made the WVV-Pokal its own, winning it in 2022, 2023 and 2024, though the DVV Cup at national level has stopped short each time, at the round of 16 in three straight seasons.

Düren supply the derby, a fixture their own fans have taken to calling exactly that, while games against Helios Grizzlys Giesen for the league's top spot get described locally as wild, open contests. Both rivalries sit on top of a club that started out simply wanting somewhere in Mondorf to do gymnastics.
