Sachaispas saw off Deportivo Paraguayo 2-0 in the Regular Season stage 23 of Primera C on Sunday evening. The hosts moved clear at the top of the table with the result, while their visitors slipped further behind.
And here's the thing — it was over before most people had settled in. S. Gallardo opened the scoring in the 30th minute, and L. Rios added a second just two minutes later. By then, Deportivo had already begun to look like they were chasing a ghost.
The visitors lost their man for the final act of the game. A red card in the 90+1 minute left them with ten men for the dying stages, though the damage had been done long before.
Statistics tell only part of the story. Sachaispas held 59 per cent possession and registered four shots on target, while Deportivo managed just one. The visitors fired seven shots wide, but none of them threatened.
Three or four moments decide a match, and this one was settled in ten minutes. Everything else — corners, attacks, the red card — was just background noise.
To be fair, the hosts deserved their position at the summit. Twenty-seven games in, they sit on 46 points from 13 wins, seven draws and seven defeats. Deportivo, meanwhile, remain 12th with 27 points — a real gap now.
