Motor has spent years at the top of the Ukrainian Men's Handball Superleague while Avia Grade Constanta sits mid-table.

The club grew out of a factory team, Zaporizhaliumbud, put together in 1958 by playing coach Semen Polonsky at the aluminium-construction trust of the same name. Four years later that side lined up against Kyiv's Burevisnyk in the first USSR handball championship.

The team is tied to the Zaporizhzhia Regional School of Olympic Reserve for Handball, named after Yuriy Lagutin. Pavlo Hurkovskyi now heads the coaching staff, working alongside Ihor Pavlenko and Oleksandr Kryshchopa, and the current squad includes Yegor Kuchinsky, Artem Kuzmin and Ilya Bondarev.

No Superleague title or national cup sits in the club's record.
