Motor Zaporozhye

Fourteen straight Ukrainian Superleague titles, running from 2013 through 2026, is not a run any other club in the country has come close to matching, and Motor Zaporizhzhia has paired it with eleven Ukrainian Cup wins over the same stretch.

The club traces back to 1958, when it started life as the team of the Zaporizhzhia Aluminium Construction Trust before its identity shifted toward the Motor Sich aircraft engine factory that gave it the name it kept. That industrial backing built a club strong enough to outlast disruption far greater than a bad season: after the Russian invasion in 2022, Motor moved its operations to Düsseldorf and spent the 2022/23 campaign playing as a guest side in Germany's second-tier Handball-Bundesliga, at the Castello arena, under head coach Gintaras Savukynas.

The squad that carried the club through that period leaned heavily on a Belarusian contingent — Barys Pukhouski, Aliaksandr Tsitou, Maxim Babichev and Viachaslau Bokhan among them — alongside Lithuanian international Aidenas Malašinskas, while goalkeeper Gennadiy Komok anchored the side domestically once matches resumed on home soil.

Home games are now back at the Yunist Palace of Sports, a modest 3,600-seat hall next to the 3,300 Motor used in Düsseldorf, and the task in front of the club is the one it has faced every year of its title run: turn a fifteenth league season into another final on the way to a fifteenth crown.
