Khmelnitsky

Khmelnytskyi built its handball around a school rather than a stadium: Children and Youth Sports School No. 1, founded in 1968, is the root from which the senior men's team eventually grew, and the club still carries the school's name into the record books as HC KhNU-DYUSSh-1, tying it to Khmelnytskyi National University as well.

The senior side is a recent arrival on the national stage. It entered the Ukrainian Higher League, the second tier, only in the 2021–2022 season, and did so on the back of a title already won: the team had topped the Higher League the previous year, earning the promotion before it had even played a game at that level. Since then it has stayed in the Super League, finishing sixth in 2023–2024, without troubling the top of the table.

The women's side carrying the city's name, Khmelnychanka, had already made the more eye-catching mark years earlier, taking silver in the Higher League in 2013 before finishing seventh in the Super League the following year.

Home games are played in the DYUSSh-1 sports hall on Shchorsa Street, the same building that gave the club its name and its start.
