Ceglédi

Ceglédi spend this season in the second division, the NB I/B, where the nearest thing to a derby is a fixture against the Pick Szeged under-21 side. Tatabánya, Gyöngyös and Csurgó turn up regularly on the calendar too, which makes for a league of familiar faces rather than big occasions.

It was not always so. In 2013–14 the team from Cegléd finished third in the top flight, and the same season took them to the quarter-finals of the Hungarian Cup. Balázs Bíró topped the scoring charts in the league that year. Gábor Császár, who was named Hungarian Handballer of the Year in 2012 and played for the national team, belongs to the same period at the club; he later came back as sports director.

The club dates from 1953 and wears yellow and blue, which is as far as a nickname goes. Supporters talk of the "yellow-blue boys", and the club's own initials, CKKSE, do the rest.

Last winter's practicalities said a good deal about the size of the operation. During the 2022–23 season the Gál József Sportcsarnok, normally home to 1,046 spectators, was being renovated, and the team moved its home fixtures to Abony. The Varga István Városi Sportcsarnok there holds 500. Norbert Tóth is the head coach now.

Third place in 2013–14 remains the high point. Ceglédi have not won the national title or the Hungarian Cup.
