Sisak

Three handball clubs have carried Sisak's name, and each collapsed before the next began. The first, born in 1988 from the merger of two local sides, INA and Metalac, made it as high as third place in the Croatian top flight in 1994/95 and took part in the EHF Cup before money problems shut it down in 1997. A second club, RK Siscia, picked up the thread in 2003, reached the Premijer liga and twice finished third, in 2009/10 and 2011/12, before going bankrupt in 2013.

The current RK Sisak was formed that same August, to keep men's handball alive in the city rather than let it lapse again. It started at the fifth tier, in the Zagreb County League, and worked its way back up division by division. The 2025/26 promotion to the Premijer liga, secured after finishing top of the 1.HRL Sjever, marks their return to the top flight.

Nicknamed the Wild Boys, the club plays in blue and white at the Brezovica Sports Hall, which holds 1,500. Its academy has sent nine players through the cadet and junior national sides, among them Danijel Preradović, who was part of the Croatia squad at the 2014 U-19 World Championship. Matches against RK Bjelovar are known locally as a handball classic.

Sisak now returns to the Premijer liga for the first time since the Siscia era.
