Alatau beat Kaisar 2:0 in the Premier League regular season on Saturday. The result keeps both sides in the lower half of the table after 25 rounds.
And here's the thing — Alatau struck first. D. Stoisavljevic found the net in the fifth minute, a quick start that set the rhythm for the evening. Kaisar had to chase from the opening exchanges.
By then the visitors were trying to find their footing. S. Bukorac picked up a yellow card just before the break, one of several cautions that would accumulate. Alatau changed their attack at half-time with N. Jambor's introduction.
The second goal came in the 61st minute. S. Popov finished a move that deserved its reward, and the hosts were suddenly breathing easier. Kaisar responded with several changes — E. Kaldybekov, Agostinho, T. Redzhepov and A. Mukhammed all came on in quick succession.
To be fair, both sides collected bookings throughout the second half. D. Podstrelov, S. Popov himself, D. Schmidt and three Kaisar players — I. Ezekiel, D. Kenzhegulov and N. Zhaksylyk — all saw yellow cards before the final whistle.
Alatau had to wait until the 85th minute to bring on their goalscorer Stoisavljevic, a cautious move that showed they were not looking for more. N. Cuckic replaced someone for Kaisar in the 70th minute, another attempt to shift the balance.
Both teams sit on 20 points after 24 games, four wins and eight draws for hosts, three wins and eleven draws for visitors. The result changes nothing in the standings — still 16th and 15th, separated by a single position.
