Santaní moved another step closer to the top of the Intermedia Division table with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Tacuary on Saturday. The visitors took all three points in the Regular Season round 22 fixture at the Estadio Tacuary. To be fair, the home side had possession but could not find a way through.
H. Vera opened the scoring in the twenty-fifth minute before R. Silva added two more to seal the result. Silva struck again in the eightieth minute and completed his brace in stoppage time, ninety minutes from the start.
Tacuary enjoyed 55 per cent possession and registered 68 attacks, yet could only manage four shots on target. Santaní were more clinical with just two shots on target and two off target, converting three chances without reply. By then the damage was done.
The result leaves Santaní third on 42 points after 22 games, while Tacuary remain fourteenth with 22 points. These are two sides with very different trajectories in the competition.
A three-goal margin at this stage means Santaní cannot afford another slip if they want to keep pace with the leaders. Tacuary's form since that 1-1 draw with Fernando-de-la-Mora on August twenty-ninth has shown little improvement.
