Tauras drew 2:2 with BFA in the 1 Liga's regular season on Thursday. The match ended level after both sides scored in the final minutes, leaving the result to be decided by a last-gasp equaliser.
K. Gvildys opened the scoring for Tauras in the 49th minute. A. Sidlauskas then gifted an own goal to his opponents three minutes later, and BFA appeared to be trailing until J. Varelka pulled one back in the 90th minute. By then things came to a head when R. Shvedchenko fired home for Tauras in stoppage time.
The statistics told a story of two evenly matched sides. Tauras held 47 per cent possession while BFA had 53 per cent. Both teams registered three shots on target and seven off target. Tauras completed 157 attacks compared to 149 for their visitors, and the corner count was five to four.
Tauras moved up to fifth place with 40 points from 22 games. They have won 12, drawn four and lost six so far. BFA sit eighth on 36 points with 11 victories, three draws and eight defeats. The gap between them has narrowed to four points.
Both teams arrive from mixed runs. Tauras drew with Bagrungs Plunge and Garliava, but lost to Neptuns Klaipeda. BFA beat Neptuns Klaipeda 2:0 and drew with Dainava, though they have also suffered defeats. The result keeps the middle of the table within reach for either side.
