Gavin McKenna scored a lacrosse-style goal during a scrimmage at the Toronto Maple Leafs' rookie camp, but the club has ruled the 2026 NHL first overall pick out of the NHL Prospect Challenge in Gatineau, Quebec.
"I'm ready to do whatever is asked of me. Of course it would be great to play a few matches [at the prospects tournament]. But if the club believes my staying here [in Toronto] is the better option, I have no problem with that and will follow their wishes," McKenna said.
