Kvartalnov: Lokomotiv did themselves some harm in win over Admiral
Lokomotiv coach Dmitry Kvartalnov says his team hurt itself after leading 2:0 with a power play, and discusses faceoffs, third-period shots and Polunin.
Lokomotiv head coach Dmitry Kvartalnov said his side "did themselves some harm" in the 2:1 away win over Admiral, after leading 2:0 going into the third period and getting a power play.
"2:0 is a good cushion before the third period," Kvartalnov said. "With that advantage, and with a man up, we had to decide the outcome. Instead it went on to the very end. We hurt ourselves a little. The lads understand everything, and we are preparing for what comes next."
He was asked about the 0:5 loss to Barys, after which he had criticised the team for lost battles and faceoffs. Against Admiral the faceoffs improved. Kvartalnov said: "The lads understand it themselves. Perhaps there was some wrong mood back then. But certain problems remain. As I said, they began to show again after the power play. We need to think about it and work on it."
He was also asked why Lokomotiv have been well outshot on target in the third period of the last two games. "That is how it has turned out so far," he said. "We are preparing and keeping it in mind. We want to change that trend and break it."
