About the player
Two goals in the UEFA Conference League have been the most visible part of Kelvin Owusu Boateng's first season at Austria Wien, alongside four in the Austrian Bundesliga. He arrived in June 2025 on a free transfer, his contract at First Vienna FC having expired.
The route there began at Zebra FC in Ghana and ran through the Right to Dream Academy, which he joined in 2015 and left in 2018. That year he went to Portugal and C.D. Aves, where he played for the U19 and U23 sides before making his senior debut in the 2020–21 season. The same season brought a loan to FC Porto B and 22 appearances, the first sustained run of senior football in his career.
He moved to Spartak Trnava in the summer of 2021 and won the Slovak Cup in 2021–22. A loan to MFK Karviná followed in 2023; the club won the Czech 2. Liga and went up to the Czech First League. He joined First Vienna FC on a free transfer in July 2023 and stayed two years.
Boateng is yet to be capped by Ghana at senior level. Born in Accra, he has spent his entire senior career abroad, in four countries before his twenty-sixth birthday.
