Sala Polivalentă Dinamo seats 2,548, and it has been enough for a club built to win at home rather than draw crowds. The court sits inside the wider Dinamo sports complex in Bucharest.
The club took the Romanian League title in 1953, then again the following year, and kept returning to the top of the table through 22 championships in total, the run stretching from 1953 to 2003. Four Romanian Cups followed, won in 1967, 1968, 1969 and 1980, the first three coming in the same stretch of dominance that carried the league titles.
Dinamo stepped into the FIBA European Champions Cup in 1965, and reached a quarterfinal group in 1973 against Ignis Varese, CSKA Moscow and Slavia VŠ Praha. There was later a run in the FIBA European League through the first half of the 1990s, and, most recently, a place in the European North Basketball League in 2024.
Across town, CSA Steaua București has stood as the natural rival.
