Eppan

Eppan built its identity in the second tier rather than at the top. The club has taken the second-division title six times, in 2002, 2003, 2010, 2013, 2014 and 2018, and added a Coppa Italia in 2013–14, beating Asiago Hockey in the final. That record made the 2014–15 season an oddity rather than a natural step up: when the Italian Ice Hockey Federation barred several clubs from the top-flight Serie A over organisational problems, Eppan, as reigning second-division champions, was given the vacant place. Under coach Patrice Lefebvre the Pirates reached the Pre-Playoffs and faced SG Cortina before returning to the second tier the following season, their one taste of the top flight.

Between 2009 and 2011 the club served as a feeder team for HC Bozen, sending players up while keeping its own identity through those on the ice for years rather than seasons — Klaus Hofer wore the jersey from 1994 to 2007, and David Ceresa moved in and out of the squad across stints between 2003 and 2018 before returning to the club in a coaching capacity.

Eppan now plays in the Italian Hockey League, under president Reinhard Zublasing.
