Bruneck sits in the Val Pusteria, a German-speaking valley in South Tyrol. Its youth sector traces back to 1972, feeding HC Pustertal's senior roster for decades before the club was set up as a distinct entity in 2014.
Junior Pustertal share the Wolves nickname and the 3,100-seat Intercable Arena with the first team, and compete in the IHL Division 1, the top rung of Italian junior hockey.
Ivan Althuber moved up from the academy to make his senior debut in 2011, and the pipeline keeps running — Christian Bedin and Benno Seiwald have since gone on to the Alps Ice Academy. The Under-16 side won the national championship in 2015 and again in 2025/2026, when the same age group's Under-14 team also took a first title of its own.
