LDU Quito

Quito sprawls across an Andean valley at nearly 2,850 metres.

The white shirt gave the club its nickname, Los Albos , though supporters also call it La Bordadora for the embroidered crest on the badge — an inverted triangle split into blue and red around a white U. That badge has been on the winning side of Ecuadorian football more than most.

Nothing in the club's history carries more weight than 2008. LDU became the first Ecuadorian side to win the Copa Libertadores, beating Fluminense on penalties in the final, then went on to the Club World Cup, where a semi-final win over Pachuca put them in the final against Manchester United — a game they lost 0-1. The Libertadores run was followed by a Copa Sudamericana the year after, and the club added a second Sudamericana in 2023, either side of two Recopa Sudamericana wins in 2009 and 2010.

Derby football in Quito runs through LDU more than anyone else. The Clásico de Quito against El Nacional carries the older weight of the rivalry; games against Aucas are billed as the Súper Clásico de Quito, and matches with Barcelona of Guayaquil, though not a true derby given the distance between the cities, are treated as the biggest fixture Ecuadorian football has to offer.

Home games are played at the Estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado, known locally as La Casa Blanca.
