New Saints took all three points from Caernarfon Town in the Welsh Premier League, winning 3-2 in a match that swung back and forth across ninety minutes. The visitors moved up to second place with 13 points from five games, while the hosts dropped to fifth with 12 points after four victories and one defeat.
B. Wilson opened the scoring for Caernarfon in the fifteenth minute, and the home side looked comfortable until R. Hughes equalised five minutes later. J. Canavan collected two yellow cards in quick succession between the twenty-second and twenty-third minutes, a double booking that shifted momentum. O. Evans restored Caernarfon's lead just before half-time with a goal in the forty-second minute.
The second half brought a different rhythm. A. Cieslewicz pulled New Saints level in the fifty-fifth minute, and R. Sears picked up a caution in the fifty-ninth. Things came to a head in the seventy-fifth minute when D. Davies fired home what proved to be the decisive strike for the visitors.
Both managers made changes around the seventy-fourth minute, with Caernarfon bringing on J. Canavan, B. Wilson, I. Jefferies and D. Redmond. New Saints responded with four substitutions of their own in the eighty-eighth minute, while J. Lock came on for Caernarfon in the eighty-ninth. Discipline wore thin late on with yellow cards for D. Simeu on the hour mark and another in stoppage time.
New Saints dominated the numbers without being clinical. They registered 43 attacks against 35, won five corners to three, and kept 53 per cent of possession. Six shots on target produced three goals, while Caernarfon managed only two shots on target from zero off-target attempts.
The result means New Saints remain unbeaten through six matches, a fourth straight win in all competitions. Caernarfon's only loss of the season now separates them from the top two, though their recent form has been strong with victories over Holywell, Trefelin and Colwyn Bay in their last three outings.
