S. Roberts opened the scoring early on, striking in the seventh minute to give Treowen Stars an advantage they would not relinquish. To be fair, Llanelli did not look particularly threatened in those opening exchanges, but a goal that early changes the complexion of any match.
The second half brought a penalty for the visitors in the 59th minute, converted by C. Davies to extend the lead and effectively seal the result. And here's the thing — Llanelli's defence has been porous all season, conceding four against Aberystwyth Town just three days prior, so this was hardly a surprise.
By then, the visitors had already established a comfortable cushion. They had won three of five league games this campaign, a run that included victories over Carmarthen Town and Cardiff Dragons, though they had also suffered defeats to Caerau (Ely) and Pontypridd Town.
The home side's form has been difficult to digest — four losses in six matches, with only a draw against Treforest Blues and a 2-2 stalemate with Carmarthen Town offering any semblance of resistance. They sit 15th in the table, well adrift of the play-off places.
Treowen Stars now move into sixth position, though they have played one fewer game than several sides above them. The gap to the top of the South section remains significant, but momentum is shifting in their favour.
