Borac Čačak moved to the summit of the Prva Liga after edging OFK Vršac 2-1 in a Regular Season fixture on Saturday. Both sides arrived level on points, each having won four and lost one of their opening five matches, so the result shifted the balance at the top of the table. The visitors took the lead in the first half and held on despite a late equaliser from the hosts before securing all three points.
OFK Vršac struck first through A. Pivas in the eighteenth minute, capitalising on early pressure. Borac Čačak responded quickly, with M. Vidovic finding the net six minutes later to level matters. The first half ended with both sides having tasted success, and the momentum swung back and forth without either side pulling clear.
The decisive moment arrived in the fifty-fifth minute when M. Jevtovic gave Borac Čačak the lead. By then the visitors had played the second half a man up in terms of composure, and they held their nerve through a flurry of yellow cards. D. Kikovic and A. Desancic both picked up bookings in the sixty-fourth minute, followed shortly by Vidovic's second caution.
The final quarter saw a series of changes as both managers looked to see out the result. M. Milivojevic and D. Petronijevic came on together for Vršac in the sixty-ninth minute, while Borac Čačak introduced S. Wasiu for U. Kilibarda thirty-nine minutes from time. Pivas was replaced in the eighty-fifth minute, and M. Mijic arrived at the death for the hosts.
The statistics told a different story from the scoreline. OFK Vršac enjoyed 53 per cent possession and registered more attacks and corners, yet they managed only three shots on target compared with six for the visitors. Borac Čačak were more clinical in front of goal, and their efficiency proved decisive in a match where chances went begging for the home side.
The result leaves Borac Čačak top of the table on twelve points, one ahead of Vršac in second place. Both sides have now played five fixtures with identical records of four wins and one defeat, but the away victory gives the visitors the advantage. The gap is narrow, and the title race is shaping up to be a tight contest.
