Talleres Córdoba and Rosario Central shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw at the Mario Alberto Kempes Stadium on Monday evening. The match came in Round 6 of Argentina's Clausura tournament, with both sides showing they remain in contention for the top spots. The away side took the lead through Angel Di Maria's double, but home goals from Agustín Álvarez and Valentín Depietri ensured the points were split.
Álvarez gave Talleres the advantage when he converted a penalty in the 21st minute. The visitors responded well and Depietri drew the sides level just before the break with a well-taken goal in the 47th minute. Rosario had been pushing for an equaliser and they finally got it when Di Maria found the net from the spot in the 55th minute.
Di Maria then added his second goal in the 63rd minute to put Rosario ahead for the first time. Talleres had been creating chances of their own but the visitors held on to take all three points. The home side pulled one back but not in time to salvage a result.
Talleres dominated possession with 65 per cent but struggled to cut through the visitors' defence. They managed only three shots on target compared to Rosario's eleven, though expected goals suggested they created better quality chances. The statistics showed a game where the visitors controlled the tempo but the home side made them work for every point.
Both teams remain in fourth place after the match, though Rosario now sit two points ahead on 28 to Talleres' 26. The result extends Rosario's unbeaten run to five games, while Talleres' recent form has been more uncertain following defeats to Gimnasia and Lanús. The draw means neither side can afford to drop points in the coming rounds.
