Christian Witzig

Christian Witzig came through FC St. Gallen's own youth ranks, moving up from the U15 to the U21 sides after joining the club in 2015. He made his debut for the reserve team, FC St. Gallen II, in November 2017, and signed his first professional contract with the first team in June 2021, finally making his official debut on 27 November 2021. He has stayed at the club since, extending his contract in January 2024 through to 2029; a reported move to AZ Alkmaar earlier that year fell through over a disagreement on fees.

Witzig worked his way through the Swiss youth national teams, earning caps at U15, U16 and U17 level, and was part of the squad at the 2018 UEFA European Under-17 Championship. His senior international debut came on 12 October 2024, when he was brought on as a substitute in a UEFA Nations League match against Serbia, a game Switzerland lost 2–0.
