About the player
Görtler came through Nürnberg's academy before turning senior with FC Eintracht Bamberg and worked his way to Bayern Munich II.
He joined FC St. Gallen in July 2019 for a reported fee of €450,000 and has since become the club's captain. In his first season there he led the Swiss Super League for assists, and one moment in particular stands out: a winning goal in the 87th minute against BSC Young Boys that ended a 20-year winless run for St. Gallen at the Wankdorf Stadium.
Görtler was also central to the club's run into the UEFA Europa Conference League, playing his part as St. Gallen beat Trabzonspor on penalties to qualify. He has yet to win the Swiss Super League title with the club, but in the 2025–26 season he lifted the Swiss Cup, scoring during the campaign that ended in a 3–0 win over FC Stade Lausanne-Ouchy in the final.
He has not been capped by Germany at senior or youth international level.
