About the player
Ilan Sauter was born in New York City and joined FC Zurich's academy at the age of ten, working his way up through the club's youth ranks. At FC Zurich II he made 37 appearances, and a loan to FC Wil between 2020 and 2022 gave him 45 Challenge League appearances and a goal to his name.
A permanent move to AC Bellinzona in the summer of 2023 saw him make 57 Challenge League appearances and score seven goals across two seasons, along with three Swiss Cup outings. He returned to FC Zurich in July 2025 as a free agent, and the club rewarded him with a contract running to 2030.
Sauter has represented Switzerland at every youth level from U16 to U20, picking up goals for both the U17 and U19 sides, though he has yet to add a senior cap.
