Livano Comenencia

Livano Comenencia made history for Curaçao on 14 June 2026, scoring in a 7-1 defeat to Germany in Houston — the country's first-ever World Cup goal. It came in a heavy loss, but it put his name in the record books all the same, alongside strikes against Jamaica in a qualifier and against Aruba in a friendly, taking his tally to three goals in 23 caps for the Curaçao national team. Born in Breda, Comenencia is of Curaçaoan descent and came up through the PSV Eindhoven academy after starting out at TVC Breda. He was promoted to Jong PSV in 2021, signed his first professional contract with the club in February 2022, and went on to make close to 60 appearances for the reserve side in the Eerste Divisie. He was part of the PSV squad that won the 2021-22 KNVB Beker, though his football was played with the reserves rather than in the final itself. His progress at that stage did not go unnoticed: The Guardian named him among its 60 best young talents born in 2004. In August 2023 he moved to Juventus Next Gen in Serie C, where he spent two seasons and made more than 60 appearances, scoring twice. That spell ended in August 2025 with a switch to FC Zürich in the Swiss Super League, where he signed a four-year contract and has since made 20 appearances for the club within his first season. A right-footed defender standing 1.85 m tall, he holds Dutch citizenship alongside his Curaçaoan international status.
