About the player
A free transfer took him to Sochaux in France in July 2017, where he stayed for two and a half seasons before St. Gallen brought him in for a fee of around €90,000 in January 2020.
At St. Gallen he became the club's first-choice goalkeeper, and the 2022–23 season stands as the high point of his time in Switzerland: he was named Swiss Super League Goalkeeper of the Season, included in the FIFPro Team of the Season, and picked up the Best Player award for the first half of that campaign as well as Player of the Month for November 2022. In the 2025–26 season he helped St. Gallen win the Swiss Cup, beating Stade Lausanne-Ouchy 3–0 in the final at Stadion Wankdorf in Bern.
Ati Zigi made his senior debut for Ghana in June 2018 against Iceland and has since earned 31 caps. He was the starting goalkeeper at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and was named in Ghana's squad for the 2026 World Cup, having also been part of the squads for the 2019 and 2021 Africa Cup of Nations without featuring in matches at either tournament.
