About the player

Luciano Rodríguez Rosales began his professional career in Uruguay with Progreso, making his debut in the Torneo Clausura against Montevideo City Torque. He went on to play 54 matches for the club, scoring seven goals, before a move to Liverpool F.C. in Montevideo, where he established himself as a key player in the first team.

His performances there opened the door to Brazilian football, and in July 2024 he joined Bahia in a deal covering the majority of his economic rights. At Bahia he won the Copa do Nordeste and emerged as a contender for the competition's top scorer. That form led to a move to Saudi Arabia in September 2025, when Neom SC signed him for a fee that included add-ons tied to performance.

Rodríguez's biggest moment on the international stage came with Uruguay's under-20 side. He scored six goals in 14 appearances for the age group, and it was his goal that won the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup final against Italy. That tournament also had a difficult edge to it: a red card in the round of 16 ruled him out of the quarter-final and semi-final. He later stepped up to the senior Uruguay squad, making his debut in a friendly against the Basque Country in March 2024.

He now wears the number 19 shirt for Neom SC, the club that holds his rights as parent club.
