Under him, in 2023 and 2024, Bodrumspor won the TFF 1.

That history goes back to 1931, when Derviş Görgün, then a player himself, put the side together under the name Bodrumspor. It stayed amateur for decades, with a brief and short-lived step into the third tier in the mid-1990s before dropping back down. Lig. In 2019 a joint-stock company took over from the old association, and before the 2023/24 season the club renamed itself once more, to Bodrum FK.

The rise did not hold. Bodrum FK finished 16th in the Süper Lig in 2024/25 and went straight back down. Lig and a play-off run that ended in the semi-final.

Bodrumspor plays at the Bodrum İlçe Stadyumu, built between 2012 and 2014 and still the only professional ground in the town; the club has never had to move elsewhere.
