Larvik HK go into the current REMA 1000-ligaen season as champions.
The club came together on 31 May 1990, when the handball departments of Larvik Turn and Halsen merged into one operation. It plays at the Jotron Arena Larvik, known for years as Larvikhallen, in front of up to 4,000 spectators wearing yellow and black.
The 2010–11 season remains the club's high point: Larvik won the EHF Champions League. Two further European trophies, the EHF Cup Winners' Cup in 2005 and 2008, came either side of that peak, and two Champions League final defeats, in 2013 and 2015, marked the years just after it.
Gro Hammerseng-Edin and Tonje Larsen are names still tied to that era, part of a generation that carried Larvik through its most dominant stretch.
Vipers Kristiansand emerged in the 2010s as the club Larvik measures itself against, and their meetings are known in Norway as the toppkampen, the top match.
Twenty-one Norwegian championships now stand next to seventeen domestic cups.
