Metalist 1925 Kharkiv

The Soviet Cup of 1988 remains the one trophy Kharkiv points to. Before that came promotion as champions of the Soviet First League in 1981, and a losing cup final in 1983. The Ukrainian SSR title had already gone to the city in 1985 and again in 1987.

That record belongs to a club that no longer exists. Metalist was wound up in 2016, and on 17 August 2016 supporters set up a replacement, keeping the name for continuity rather than any legal claim to it — the new company is not the successor of the old. The honours listed above are the predecessor's; what the reformed side has won itself is the Ukrainian Second League in 2021 and, later, the First League.

The runners-up finish in the Ukrainian Premier League in 2013 was the closest the original club came to a national championship, with seven third-place finishes either side of it. The 1992 Ukrainian Cup final was lost.

Home matches are played at the OSC Metalist on Plekhanivska Street. A rebrand in 2026 replaced the yellow and dark blue the club had worn since its refounding with burgundy and gold, and the nickname followed.

The Kharkiv derby has had several opponents over the years — Arsenal, Spartak and Torpedo, all of the same city.
