Ružomberok

The club that plays it grew out of Concordia Ružomberok, founded in 1906, and spent the following century being renamed almost every time the political ground shifted under it — Iskra under one regime, BZVIL under another, Texicom after that, before settling on MFK Ružomberok in 2003.

Nothing in that long history matches the 2005–06 season, when František Komniacky's side won the league and the cup in the same year — a double that meant no Slovak Super Cup was even played, since the same club held both trophies already. Ján Nezmar was the name of that season, but it was Erik Jendrišek who top-scored in the league with 21 goals, the best return of the independent Slovak era for the club, before moving on to Hannover and Schalke 04.

Ružomberok waited eighteen years to add to that trophy cabinet, taking the Slovak Cup again in 2023–24. In between, the academy did what a club this size relies on: Juraj Kucka came through it to captain the Slovak national team and play for Milan, and Dušan Švento followed a similar path out through Slavia, Red Bull Salzburg and Fenerbahçe. Home games are still played at Štadión pod Čebraťom, which holds 4,876.
