Surkhon

Surkhon spent 2024 within one game of a first major cup final, reaching the semi-final of the Uzbekistan Cup before Andijan shut the door with a 0-1 win. The season before that the club finished sixth in the Superliga, still the high point of its recent run in Uzbekistan's top flight.

The name on the shirt has not always been Surkhon. Founded in 1968 in Termez, administrative centre of the Surkhondarya region, the club started out as Chigarachi, spent the following decade as Avtomobilist, had a single season under the name Spartak, and later passed through ASK, Dinamo-Khamkor and simply Termez before Surkhon returned for good in 2012.

A winged horse sits on the badge, and it gave the club its nickname: Pegasus, or Uchar tulporlar — flying horses — in Uzbek. The home kit is yellow, the away kit blue.

The closest Surkhon came to lasting success was in 1993, when second place in the First League sent the team back up to the top division. Further back, in Soviet football, the club finished second in the USSR's second-lowest league in 1978 and reached the last 32 of the USSR Cup in 1985.

Surkhon Arena reopened in 2025 after a two-year renovation, with capacity now set at 10,599.

Among those who came through the club, the Durmonov brothers, Abdusamad and Rustam, are the names most linked to Surkhon. On the pitch, the meeting with Khorazm, from Urgench, is treated as a derby, even though it carries no name of its own.
