Szeged 2011

The Szent Gellért Fórum holds 8,256, and Szeged-Csanád Grosics Akadémia only started playing there in September 2019.

The club traces to 2011, when Dr. Kiss-Rigó László, bishop of the Diocese of Szeged-Csanád, set up a sports organisation wholly owned by the diocese and bought a licence from Makó FC to secure a place in NB II. It was registered as Szeged 2011 Kft., and the club is careful to say it inherited no history from the city's earlier teams, even as it acknowledges them. The current name, Szeged-Csanád Grosics Akadémia, was adopted on 27 June 2019.

Its first season in the second tier, 2011/12, ended 12th in the Keleti group; a year later, under the Szeged-Csanád name, the same group produced 8th place on 42 points. None of that added up to silverware — the club has never won an NB II title or a Hungarian cup. What it has is a fixture with meaning: against Békéscsaba 1912 Előre, the two sides contest what is known locally as the Dél-alföldi derbi.

Germán Tamás has been the name attached to the side in recent seasons, with Palincsár Martin among the products of its own academy system. The team plays in black and blue, back in Szeged now.
