Adelaide Olympic claimed a 3:1 victory over Adelaide Victory in the quarter-finals of the South Australia State League 1 on Thursday evening. The result moves the hosts closer to the final stages while sending the visitors through to the next round. The match took place at Adelaide Olympic's home ground on 21 August 2026.
P. Katsambis opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, giving the home side an early advantage. By then the visitors had been probing but found no answer to the opening pressure. Adelaide Olympic controlled the tempo through much of the first half and kept their lead intact.
The second half brought a flurry of action around the 70th minute. An unattributed goal was followed by a penalty miss and then J. Pudler converted from the spot to extend the home side's lead. S. Rapuano added another in the 73rd minute, and Pudler sealed the victory with a goal in the 90th minute. An unattributed goal came in stoppage time.
Adelaide Olympic sit third in the table with 43 points from 22 games, while Adelaide Victory sit sixth on 36 points. The hosts had dropped points in their most recent outing, losing 0:1 to Adelaide Raiders, whereas the visitors came off a 3:1 win over South Adelaide Panthers.
The quarter-final result means Adelaide Olympic move into a stronger position in the knockout stages. Adelaide Victory will now face the next obstacle in the competition with their season still alive.
