Athelstone Reserve sits in the eastern suburbs of Adelaide, and it is where Eastern United have played since the club took its place in the Football Federation South Australia league system.

The club exists because another one stopped. N.A.B. Soccer Club, known earlier as Norwood All Boys, had spent decades in South Australian football and drew much of its support from the local Italian community. When it folded, former supporters and life members put together a new club in 2013 to hold the place N.A.B. had held. They kept the nickname, The Saints, and they kept red and black.

Promotion came in 2020, and with it a Grand Final against Adelaide Cobras that went to extra time before the Cobras took it 1-0. Eastern United won State League 2 South in 2025 to climb again.

The figure most often attached to all of it is Diego Pellegrini , a former Italy international who worked as a coach and remained one of the club's central people long after his playing days.
