The Cove

In 2024 The Cove went into a State League 2 Grand Final against Modbury Vista and won it. Promotion back to State League 1 followed. The club had dropped down in 2018, and until that final the best result under Football South Australia — which The Cove joined in 2009 — was third place in 2012.

The club began in 1982 in the southern suburbs of Adelaide as the Hallett Cove Soccer Club, taking the shorter name a year later. Its first decade was spent climbing the South Australian Amateur Soccer League from the bottom: the Sunday 7th Division in 1983, then the 6th, then the 5th in 1985 without losing a match, and eventually the Sunday 1st Division in 1991.

Terry Hayes took the Munaro Medal, the amateur league's best-and-fairest award, in 1990 and again in 1991.

Since April 2022 the home ground has been the Southern Soccer Facility at Trott Park, purpose-built at a cost of $6 million and holding 3,000. Players wear white shirts with red shoulders and vertical stripes, blue shorts and red socks; the change kit is all black. The Cove is a pathway partner for Adelaide United's junior development programme, and its local matches are against Adelaide Cobras, Salisbury United and Eastern United.

Third in 2012 remains the best the club has managed in the state league structure, and the 2024 promotion returns it to the division it left rather than carrying it beyond.
