Barry Town moved clear at the top of the Premier League with a 3-1 victory over Holywell in the fourth round of the regular season. The visitors took an early lead through E. Dugan before O. Brain and a double from J. Shaw secured the three points at the final whistle.
C. Hughes gave the hosts hope with a 16th-minute strike, but the visitors responded sharply. E. Dugan equalised on 31 minutes, and by then it was clear Barry Town had the sharper edge. O. Brain restored the advantage on 72 minutes after a period where the hosts had dominated possession.
J. Shaw rounded off the scoring with two goals in stoppage time, the first arriving on 90+4 minutes and the second a minute later. It was a fitting end to a match where Barry Town had controlled the tempo despite not having the ball most often.
Barry Town registered seven shots on target from 69 attacks, while Holywell offered just two shots on target from 80 attacks. The visitors held 54 per cent possession and won seven corners compared to two for the hosts. Holywell's four yellow cards told a story of frustration as the game slipped away.
The result extends Barry Town's unbeaten run to eight matches, all of them victories. They sit six points clear with a game in hand, and while the table has room for movement, the gap is growing.
Holywell remain rooted to 16th place with just one point from seven games. They have now lost six of their last seven league matches, including this defeat and three consecutive 1-3 losses this season. To be fair, the pattern has been consistent, and the result did little to change the shape of the bottom half.
