Kopar and Bravo played out a goalless draw in the Slovenian First League at Bonifika Stadium on Sunday. The result keeps both sides within touching distance of each other in the table, with Kopar holding second place on 12 points and Bravo sitting fourth with 11 after seven games.
By then the pattern was already set — Kopar controlling territory but not finding an outlet. They had 60 per cent possession yet only three shots on target all afternoon. To be fair, Bravo were content to sit deep and soak it up, though they managed six shots on target from their 40 per cent share.
The yellow cards started coming at regular intervals rather than in bursts. B. Ndiaye went off at 33 minutes, then L. Rimac at 58, followed by M. Simonic at 68. By then it felt less like a tactical battle and more like two sides unwilling to take risks. Three yellows each — neither side wanted to lose the point.
Substitutions came in clusters rather than singles. D. Omoregie and A. Ruedl were off at 57 and 59 minutes, then Kopar brought on M. Simonic and I. Matondo together at 80. A. Jakupovic made the final appearance at 85, while L. Gucek and J. Stankovic picked up late yellows in stoppage time.
The numbers tell the same story as the eye test. Kopar registered 131 attacks against 98 for Bravo, but 15 shots off target to Bravo's 11 suggests the visitors were more clinical when they got a chance. Three corners each — not the kind of game that tests a defence from set pieces.
The clean-sheet run came to an end for both sides, though neither would have called this a defeat. Kopar need the points badly after their 2-0 loss to Maribor last week, while Bravo have not won since their 2-1 victory over Radomlje. This result keeps them on the same wavelength — neither side can afford to drop points in this position.
