Limenyo close out Metapan with late surge
Municipal Limenyo secured a 3-1 victory over Isidro Metapan in the Apertura seventh round of the Primera División on Thursday evening. The hosts took an early lead through J. C. Argueta before Metapan equalised, then pulled away in the final quarter of the match. By then the visitors had already switched off at a set piece, and three goals in ten minutes closed the game out.
Argueta struck in the eighth minute to give Limenyo the advantage, but Metapan responded when J. Ferman netted in the 57th minute. The result moves Limenyo to within one point of the third-placed visitors, who remain on 13 points from seven games. Hosts sit fifth with 10 points after three wins, one draw and three defeats. Metapan's away form has been steady — they have won three of their last five visits — but this performance suggests they were out-thought on the touchline.
For Metapan, the defeat ends a run of four unbeaten matches away from home. They now face a difficult stretch without the momentum they had built. Limenyo, meanwhile, have nothing to lose going forward and could yet climb into the top three before the campaign concludes.
