About the player
Ahmad Faqa came up through Vasalunds IF and Bromstens IK before joining AIK Fotboll's academy in the autumn of 2017, and he made his senior debut for the club on 27 February 2022 in the Svenska Cupen against Eskilsminne IF. He spent much of the following years out on loan, moving through Västerås SK, Sandvikens IF, HK Kópavogur and FH Hafnarfjörður before his AIK contract, which had run since 2022, expired.
His most productive loan spell came in Iceland with HK Kópavogur, where he scored twice in 25 appearances. On 22 July 2026 he moved to Degerfors IF on a free transfer, signing a contract through to the end of 2028.
Faqa made his debut for Syria in 2024 and has gone on to earn 16 caps, scoring twice. His first international goal came on 25 March 2025 against Pakistan in a 2027 Asian Cup qualifier, which Syria won 2-0. His second followed on 8 September 2025 in a 2-2 friendly draw with Kuwait.
