The ground came later, and it came at the same moment the club absorbed a neighbour. Janneslunds Sportklubb folded into Degerfors IF in 1938, and on 24 July that year Stora Valla opened its gates. It holds 6,000 now.

The two seasons that stayed in the town's memory came a generation apart and ended the same way. In 1940–41 Degerfors finished second in the Allsvenskan; in 1963 they finished second again. Third place in 1950–51 and 1953–54 filled in the years between.

What did come, eventually, was a cup.

The decades since have been spent climbing back up rather than staying put. Red shirts, white shorts, the same as always.
