Dejan Popara

Trebinje born, Dejan Popara joined Zvijezda 09's academy and made his senior debut for the club in April 2019, staying through to 2022 and winning the Premijer Liga BiH U19 title twice, including in the 2021/22 season. That development spell led to a move to Borac Banja Luka in February 2022.

The path from there was less straightforward. In July 2023 he went out on loan to Sloga Doboj, and by January 2024 he had terminated his contract with Borac altogether to join Sloga permanently. It was there, in October 2024, that he scored his first professional goal, in a 2–0 home win over GOŠK Gabela.

Popara's form at Sloga Doboj was enough to take him abroad. On 8 January 2025 he moved to Zorya Luhansk in Ukraine, in a deal reported at between €150,000 and €180,000, and he was the club's first signing of that winter transfer window.

At international level, Popara has come through Bosnia and Herzegovina's youth ranks, representing the country at U16, U17, U19 and U21, and has won six caps for the U21 side.
